Fake It and Flaunt It ? The reality of Blogging World.

This may be old news for some of you but I thought I would write a post for the benefit of those who may not know about it. After all, until today, I had no idea that things of this nature are happening around our blogging world!

However, the noticeable difference between those and this blog was the FeedBurner feed count. On the top right, was a heading subscribe to my rss feeds, and along side it displayed an image with a text indicating 2621 readers. I wanted to find out how this blog managed to get so many subscribers which such mind-numbing content. I didn’t even see a single comment for the 5 recent blog posts.

he detective inside me started to come alive. Even though I don’t have that many RSS subscribers, at least someone leaves a comment on every post!
My curiosity led me to investigate the HTML code of this blog. I also searched the web and found out a way to check the number of subscribers. All you have to do is type the following, on the browser.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/feedname

My personal opinion is that it depends on the blog and how fake the feedcount is. Obviously, the blog I visited had not thought of the later!

When you visit a blog for the first time, in most cases, what happens is that you read just two or three articles, and then you look at RSS count. If the content and the RSS count impress you, you subscribe.
How many times has this happened to you? When you visited a popular blog the first time, noticed a high feed count of say 10000, and asked yourself - “Why haven’t I subscribed to this blog? 10000 RSS readers mean the blog is definitely worth subscribing!”
So, if you have a pleasing blog design and some decent content, I think you might get attention from your visitors with the fake feedcount.

However once anyone finds out the fake no will ever subscribe to that blog, so the Idea of FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT is not always a good one.

Not Tonight Dear, I Had A Modem! | Addcited to Internet

As funny as it may be, this might be actually happening to you. It may be not the exact “situation”, but I find that we spend more time on the internet and neglect the things and people that matter the most to us.

Imagine this; you take your remaining leave to chill at home; Or may be you go on vacation to get away from it all. Yet, you still keep writing your blog, and staying up to date on what’s happening in the blogospehere. I know a blogger, who is blogging while he is on his honeymoon!

Are you an internet addict?

I am not qualified to give a verdict on this. However, here are a few questions that I would like you to think about.
Do you
  • find yourself unable to stop connecting to the internet even when you know there are consequences?

  • Have you repeatedly made unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back, or stop Internet use?

  • Prefer to use online messenger, email and other forms of online communication rather than face-to-face interaction when the latter is more appropriate?

  • find it impossible to relax without constantly connecting to the internet?

  • pay more attention to the latest “internet news” than what is happening in real life?

  • feel the internet is a more powerful draw than spending time with your friends and family?

Human Psychology explained !!!

Here is my theory about how a human brain thinks........

People want to be winners; and associated with winning things. WoW players triumph the worldwide subscription numbers. EQII'ers celebrate the 'depth' of the game (winning quality instead of quantity). I can make some valid example for any game really, in about thirty seconds of official forums readings.

So the folks who have identified with AoC or WAR or CoS or any of the 'coming soon!' games potentially on the market are sure that their game will destroy the other games. They want to be on a winning team. You also see this demonstrated in folks who are long term adherents of a game, and are ready to move along. They start looking at the other games, and the promises of what might be, and the faults of their long time game start to stand out more starkly.

I don't blame them for the base psychology, they need to devalue the investment they have already made so they can hype the investment they hope to make in the next big game; but I can disagree with their findings.

These games will come out, and many people will try them. For some, they will be the right answer, and for others they won't. Will this impact the subscription of other games out there? Not in a significant manner at all. You know what will? The team making that existing game. If they continue to deliver the quality that has attracted their current customer base, a new launch means nothing.

So I'm not worried about these coming launches. I'm excited. I have two lumps of friends lining up to play Conan because I know a lot of PvP junkies (/guilty); so I have choices about who I play with; and yes -- I intend to play. I also have an active WoW sub, and funds on my Maple Story account. Oh, and yes, access to every SOE game.

My problem isn't that something new is coming out so something old must die, it's that there aren't enough minutes in the day.

The Addiction Called: ORKUT

Have you ever met a stranger who suddenly feels so familiar ? You've never seen her, still her face floats before your eyes ? Yeah, you guessed it right. I met someone yesterday. You must know that Orkut's a great bitch(as Orkut's a she). She breaks millions of hearts, even kills few, helps people collaborate and primarily, helps you get in touch with old friends. But once in a while, she acts as a cupid.Yesterday, I met a stranger on Orkut. You'd say what's great in that won't you ? Yeah, its a pretty ordinary, daily occurrence on Orkut these days. Boy sees a girl... Gets attracted...falls in love..Proposes her.. bla bla. Its not that kind of a story. Stay tuned :D

I started to like that girl(As always... But this one seemed strange) . My communication skills with ladies have always been anything but intelligent. I'm kinda lame when it comes to being friendly and happy-go-lucky with em. OK. Back to the point.

As my communication skills are not as good, I end up getting people annoyed. Same was the case with the girl. She supposedly got annoyed and wasn't responding as much. Could be due to other reasons as well. But what the heck... Suddenly, I acted stupid and on being asked by her friend , how I like that girl , I started slipping. I inquired about how she looked. Pretty stereo-type eh ? Well, I did and the friend happened to reply by saying that the girl is a great great gal. She won't comment on her looks as she was her best friend. I was pretty comfortable with the reply and said, as usual, that looks didn't matter(from heart dude... NOT superficially). Seriously, looks don't matter as much as the character.

Now the twist. I suddenly start acting weird. I scrap her friend( another one) regarding her. Nothing as such, just expressing my feelings. No intentions as such. That seemed to have a negative effect. The girl was already depressed over some issue and I seemed to depress her further. I felt guilty. Very guilty.

Seriously, I decided that I didn't even deserve to be there on Orkut. Why should I inflict another heart-ache on myself without any freakin fault of mine ? Was it all my fault ?

I supposedly deleted my Orkut profile. Dunno why its still there. Anyway, Orkut's never given me a damn thing. Rather caused me misery and defeat. Deceit? Yeah... to a certain extent. I wish the girl success. Last night was the most guilt filled night of my life... Yeah, I couldn't sleep well. Felt like weeping, but the tears won't come out. Sigh. Anyway... All's well that ends well. I'm out of Orkut, no more misery. I'm free. So is the girl. I wish all blood-sucking creature like me get out of that girl's life.
Amen.

Though As I am out of School and with it I have picked up my many old habits including taking huge amount of coffee or caffeine, grass and yes I'm back on Orkut

Nice simple Web layouts and templates

When we talk of blogging, the question of web design, functionality, ease of navigation and loading speed might come to mind. Also, when you think of your readers, content is always king. SEO and programming skills are also required (for traffic). All these concepts rolled into one medium called a blog is not an easy thing to accomplish at once if you think it is (at least if you lack the required knowledge to fix your blog’s themes or design your own).

However, if you can be humble enough to recognize that weakness or inadequacy (like me, I am not really into blog designs and all if you can observe in this site), help is readily available. Search the internet and look for a nice web design. In my case, I have found a site that just does that - a blog about web design that is easy to navigate, simple yet elegant and offers great contents that are fun to read. The posts in the site mentioned are related to our online lives as bloggers. In fact I have drafts of the same topics they have discussed there but they have written more than enough.
I always believe in taking a good simple template and then tweaking ot my needs rather than just making something from the scratch as what is the point in wasting time when I know it is already been done and made available for free for me.

Entre card: new way to get more traffic

Entre card is a new concept for me i first heard it from the 15 year old wonder blogger Carl, who owes the site carlocrab, he mentioned in his one of the posts that entre card is a new way to get good clean traffic from all over the world who have similar tastes and the button is a standard 125x125 so it makes matter much easier to be added in any blog what so ever. I have tried it myself in one of my blog and it does works , though it is not as great as DIGG or stumbleupon but it does give a sizeable amount of traffic.

Entrecard dropping has become a bloggers habit from the time Entrecard was introduce online. Some bloggers do it religiously and some signed-up for the sake of joining the trend.Actually there’s one thing i am sure about the program of Entrecard. I got the chance to discover blogs and sites i have not seen yet.So if you are tired of dropping from almost all the blogs you visit, this is one of the answers. Visit http://entrecard.urgrps.com. check this link and you shall find all your queries about entre card answered.
